Baptism is a visible expression of personal faith and new life in Christ; an outward sign of an inward change. It is not necessary for attaining salvation, but is a symbolic testimony of what has happened in a person's life. It is also an expression of commitment. A person who is being baptized is expressing the following:
- I am obeying the Lord's command.
- I have been born again (become a Christian) through faith in Christ's death, burial and resurrection.
- I pledge myself to walk as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
